Faculty Position in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics, National Chengchi University, Taipei, Taiwan
The Graduate Institute of Linguistics at National Chengchi University is inviting applications for a faculty position (open rank) in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics, provisionally starting on February 1, 2024. Preference will be given to qualified applicants whose areas of specialty complement the existing strengths of the institute.
Job description
We are looking for a motivated faculty member with a Ph.D. in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics who can contribute to our international research profile and provide cutting-edge teaching at graduate and undergraduate levels.
Salaries are based on official salary scales. The appointee will have access to Taiwan’s comprehensive health insurance system and civil servant retirement package.
Selection criteria
Required
Ph.D. degree in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics. Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. degree upon application.
Demonstrated research and teaching experience in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics.
Ability to teach graduate-level courses and undergraduate-level courses in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics.
Ability to teach general education courses related to one’s specialty in an interdisciplinary context.
Ability to supervise graduate students and participate in administrative tasks
Ability to conduct competitive research in national and international contexts
Ability to apply for research grants
Desired:
Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, or a commitment to learn the language

Graduate transcripts (verified by the Taiwan Representative Office)
Copy of Ph.D. dissertation (for dissertations in languages other than Chinese or English, please provide a 3000 word synopsis)
Copy of two to three representative publications from the last five years
Two samples of graduate-level course syllabi
Have three referees send a letter of recommendation directly to nccu555@nccu.edu.tw before August 31, 2023.
For official documents in a language other than English or Chinese, a certified translation in English must be provided. Before finalizing any appointment, original copies of academic documents must be provided for inspection.
