題目：Reviving Language: Lessons from the Cornish Community
摘要：In this talk, I will share my four-year journey of learning Cornish, from online classes and exams to becoming an active member of the language community. I'll discuss the steps I took to connect with fellow learners and experienced speakers, allowing me to engage in discussions, contribute to Cornish language community work, including joining the Terminology Panel for Cornish. Through this experience, I've identified key strategies for language revival, including early writing practice, mentorship, language accreditation, and active participation in language-focused roles. We can explore my experiences and see how these lessons could be applied to revive and/or support other indigenous languages In the world.
講者簡介：Richard Simcott is a famous polyglot and expert on multilingualism. He is the founder and current organizer of the Polyglot Conferences. He has been named one of the most multilingual people in the UK. He speaks approximately 30 languages, six of which with native-level fluency, and has studied more than 50 others. As a language consultant, he has worked on language learning, multilingualism and minority language revitalization for various companies, organizations and governments.
